Wayford Bridge

The Staithe at Wayford Bridge

Wayford Bridge is on the upper reaches of the Ant. The photograph above is looking downstream from the bridge to the public staithe. There are a limited number of moorings here for boats not able to pass under the low bridge. 7 ft Headroom at average high water levels. Downstream of the bridge there are a number of boatyards and private moorings beside the river.

Wayford Bridge Staithe

Looking upstream the public moorings are close to the road and boatyards, it is still a pleasant spot to moor for lunch or overnight or just to lower your canopy for the bridge ahead.

Wayford Bridge Hotel

The Wayford Bridge Hotel is just over the road from the staithe. It has two restaurants and a lounge bar. It was refurbished in 2000 and now has 15 rooms all en-suite.

Looking Upstream from Wayford Bridge

On going upstream through the bridge the scene opens out, with Wayford Park Houseboats overlooking some pleasant moorings (fee). From here you can venture further up Tylers Cut to the head of navigation at Dilham. Or moor up and hire a rowing boat and explore the North Walsham & Dilham Canal. The canal once navigable  to North Walsham allowed wherries passage from here to Great Yarmouth.

Wayford bridge looking downstream. The Bridge here is lower than first expected, but a wooden board hangs from the bridge to indicate the true height.
